Board of Deacons

“It is the duty of deacons, first and all, to minister to those who are in need, to the sick, oR the friendless, and to any who may be in distress. They shall assume such other duties as may be delegated to them from time to time by session.”  The primary responsibility of a FPC Deacon is to be a link between the church and the person who they are assigned to on the Homebound/ Concern list. It is our responsibility to maintain contact through our visits, calls and cards. 


Six members are elected to a 3 yr term.  Monthly meetings are held currently on 2nd Sunday of each month. (There is no meeting in July)

 

 

 

The Board of Deacons is responsible for the following: 

  • Visitation to Homebound/Concern members
  • Organizing/serving Communion to Shut-ins.
  • Hospital Visitation
  • Coordinating Christmas shopping at J. C. Penny’s.
  • Decorating the Sanctuary for Advent/Christmas
  • Organize Christmas Caroling to homebound members
  • Flower Fund
  • Handicap Equipment - The Handicap closet is located outside Westminister Hall
  • Annual Church Picnic in August
  • Organizing Greeters for Sunday morning
  • Cards and phone calls

Handicap Equipment Closet is located outside Westminister Hall and is available to anyone for loan. The key is located in the church office, please sign out in the office when borrowing equipment.

Current list of equipment includes:

  • crutches
  • wheel chair
  • walkers
  • shower seat
  • bathroom aids

In addition we are always looking for well-maintained equipment to add to our closet. Please contact the office to sign out equipment.
